Walther P22 Optic mounting plate.
The popular Walther P22, due to its configuration and design, makes mounting an optic to the slide virtually impossible due to the lack of a
rear sight dovetail cut and limitations on material thickness.
We have designed a plate that utilizes the
looped rear sight retainer as an anchor point to reliably mount an optic. Using
an insert and a crossbar, the plate is installed securely and follows the
curvature of the slide to make a solid interface.
Due to the added weight of an optic, we have
found that some ammunition may lack sufficient energy to cycle the pistol. We
recommend testing the P22 with various munitions after the plate and optic are
installed.
Instructions:
Ensure that the pistol is unloaded and made safe.
Using a small screwdriver, remove the factory plastic rear
sight by rotating the windage adjustment screw counter-clockwise until the
screw completely backs out and is free. Lift the rear sight to expose the
retainer loop that is part of the slide.
Place the plate insert over the loop and install the cross
pin. You can use the provided allen wrench as a pusher to install the pin.
Locate the plate over the top of the slide so that the
insert goes into the channel on the bottom portion of the plate. Install the 2
retainer screws from the top of the plate and snug them down. We recommend the
use of a low strength thread locker.
