The Dome Light was designed to address the shortcoming of
many available helmet light mount configurations. Most are only adjustable in
one plane parallel to the affixed point. This limits where the light beam can
be aimed and doesn’t provide adequate or focused light where it is needed to
accomplish the task at hand.
The (Patent Pending) Dome Light is not only fully articulated
but can also be locked into position so that it will not shift during normal
use. The mount utilizes a fixed sphere and an internally ramped locking bar to
achieve this function.
There is a release surface and a trigger surface. The
trigger surface can be depressed to lock the light mount base into the desired
position. Once locked, the release surface must be depressed with the palm of
the hand until you feel internal ramp disengage from the affixed sphere on the
base mount to allow the flashlight to move again. Locking the light into
position is not required for many tasks, as the tension alone of the sliding
internal ramp will hold the light into position with sufficient force to hold
it securely. The release surface should face downwards towards the ground when
worn properly. The trigger surface is narrower and should face upwards when in
use.
There are currently 2 ways to affix the mount to a helmet: one
is for an ARC rail, and the other is for the Team Wendy interface. To affix to
the ARC, back out the 2 setscrews on the dovetail base and have the driver
loose within the base. Hold the 2 lift ears upwards and slide the base from the
side into the ARC track so that the dual locking lugs correspond to the slots
in the base. Using the short provided allen key (required for clearance),
carefully tighten both set screws evenly so that the driver engages and holds
the base securely. For the Team Wendy, secure the base plate with the 2 button
head fasteners into the side allocation on the Wendy rail.
To affix the light to the mount, use the 2 provided flat
head cap screws through the base and secure the light. The Surefire Vampire
light requires an adapter that is secured via the same screws.
